SUPERVISION

How are the camp participants supervised?

Our camp is not a 24 hour nursery.  The youngest skiers (unaccompanied by a parent or guardian) must be 12 years of age or older in order to participate in a camp.  There are activities organized from morning wake-up until evening bedtime.  Each coach supervises a maximum of 8 camp participants.

In the evening, the Camp Director, Sebastien Caron, along with other staff members, are in the hotel supervising the camp participants.  We maintain close supervision, balanced so that everyone has sgreat time and stays out of trouble.  We treat all children with the respect they deserve.

The curfew begins between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. (depending on age) for skiers under 19 years of age.

In El Colorado, Chile, there is no night life to speak of.  We hold video sessions and a brief class each evening to prepare camp participants for the upcoming day.

The Nomad Ski Academy camps are not summer vacation camps, but rather are intensive ski training camps where the focus is on the development of the participants' skiing abilities in a fun and encouraging atmosphere.

What if I am 19 years of age or older?

Nomad is an Academy and it operates with strict rules.  Being 19 years of age or older, you are considered an adult and you are legally alllowed to consume alcohol.

If you choose to go out at night, we ask that you do not return to the hotel in a disruptive manner.  The younger camp participants must not see you impaired or in possession of alcohol at any time.  If you have been drinking at a bar, you must go directly to your room upon returning to the hotel.  We do not want any under-age camp participants exposed to bad influences and we appreciate your cooperation in keeping alcohol out of their sight.

The "No Drugs" rule applies, regardless of your age, as the laws of Chile are strictly enforced and the consequences could be extremely serious.  If you are unable to follow these basic rules, you will be asked to leave the camp immediately with no refund.

Is there a curfew?

The curfew for camp participants varies according to age and begins between 9:00pm and 10:00pm.  This applies to all camp participants under 19 years of age.  If you are 19 or over, this curfew does not apply.  Do keep in mind the fact that you will be so exhausted from the day's activities that you will want to go to bed early.

What is your policy on drugs and alcohol?

Zero tolerance for drugs is the policy.  If any camp participant is caught with drugs, his/her parents are called and they are sent home immediately, at the parents' expense.  No exceptions.  No refund.

If camp participants (who are under the legal drinking age of 19) are caught with alcohol, their parents are contacted to agree upon appropriate action.  If they are caught more than once, they are sent home on the next available flight, at the parents' expense.  No exceptions.  No refunds.
